Installing and Using PaperCut Printers
Mac Setup Instructions
- If you have already installed Reed printing, you'll need to run the klpr uninstaller which can be found here: http://downloads.reed.edu/apps/fetch/110
- Go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Print & Fax.
- Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
- Click the Default icon at the top.
- Select the printer from the list that appears.
- Click the Add button.
- From the Installable Options window, check the Duplex Unit box if that printer supports duplexing (see our duplex list below).
- Click Continue.
- Now the printer has been added to your computer! See our instructions below for releasing your print job.
Windows Setup Instructions
We recommend using this method for all users.
- Download Windows Web Printing from https://downloads.reed.edu.
- Double-click Windows-Web-Printing.exe (use the Windows-Web-Printing-x64.exe file if you're running a 64-bit opperating system).
- At the Select Components window, check all the printers that you wish to install and click Next through the end of the installer. Note: If you select many printers, the installation will take a while, so be patient. Windows 7 users will need to let the installer update their system before continuing.
- After installation, a "Print Release Login" shortcut is added to the Desktop, along with an item in Start > Programs > ReedApps > Printing.
- Now see our instructions below for releasing your print job.
Windows Manual Setup Instructions
If the above method doesn't work for you, and you'd like to install your printers manually, follow these instructions:
- Navigate to your printers in your "Control Panel".
- Right click and choose "Add Printer".
- Choose to add a networked printer.
- Click "The printer I want isn't listed".
- In the printer name box, enter one of the addresses listed below, e.g. http://printing.reed.edu:631/printers/IRC_web and choose Next.
- Select the appropriate driver from the list (for black and white printers the HP LaserJet 4200 driver will usually work fine) and click "OK".
- Finish out the wizard by clicking "Next" and "Finish", repeat for each printer you'd like to add. Note: Do not share any printers that you add.
- Now see our instructions below for releasing your print job.
Linux with CUPS Support
Ubuntu
- Choose System -> Administration -> Printing
- Choose New -> Printer
- Choose Network Printer -> Internet Printing Protocol and fill in the host ozone.reed.edu:631
- Click Find Queue and select the printer you want. Be sure to pick one with "web" in the name.
- Give the printer a name and you're done. Repeat to add other printers.
Releasing Your Print Job (Mac, Windows, Linux)
After printing your document, you must release your print job from the web.
- Go to http://printing.reed.edu.
- Click on Jobs Pending Release.
- Under the Action column, click the Print link for the job you wish to print.
NOTE: You may see jobs other than your own on this page. This behavior is normal. Once you hit print, the job will be sent to the printer indicated and your account will be charged. 
- If printing to a group of printers (ie, IRC web, Library North Ref, Library Reading Room), you must then select a particular printer from that group.
